Incredible Welsh Rugby Experience Delights Team Hub!

People supported at Swanton’s Values In Care services in South Wales were given a once-in-a-lifetime rugby treat after designing a brilliant Six Nations plaque.

The design featured the six competing country’s national flags depicted in rugby ball shapes.  Bosses at Wales’ iconic Principality Stadium were so impressed by the team’s creative efforts that they wanted to reward them. So, on 29th April, twenty people who regularly attend sessions at The Hub were given a VIP experience at the home of Welsh rugby.

Vocational Services Manager, Lucy Williams, said it was a fantastic day that none of them will ever forget. She said:

“We were invited to go to the stadium and take our Six Nations plaque. When we got there, we had a warm welcome and were given an incredible tour of the whole place. It was fantastic to go behind the scenes, see the locker room and gym areas, and participate in a mock press conference. But the real treat was getting a chance to go onto the pitch, and get a feel for what it’s like for Wales to take on international competitors.”

The group enjoyed afternoon tea before getting into the stands to watch a match.

Lucy also described the day:

“We watched the Swansea Gladiators take on the Mixed Ability Rugby Invitationals (MARIs). It was such an exciting game, and it was so positive for the people we support to see disabled people competing. It was such a brilliant time, and the people we support loved every minute of it. There were plenty of ‘pinch yourself’ moments throughout the day, and we can’t thank the team at the stadium enough for taking care of us so well.”
