Intrepid climber Conor Conquers The Wrekin

Congratulations are in order for Conor after he successfully scaled The Wrekin alongside Support Worker Kam Purslow.

The hill trek is one of Shropshire’s most difficult challenges, but with a great attitude and good company, Conor made it to the top.

In the past few months, Conor has built a terrific bond with Kam, who has been empowering him to get out and enjoy activities in the community.

According to Darwin Community Support’s Peripatetic Care Manager Zoe Carter, Conor is grabbing many new opportunities thanks to his efforts and Kam’s support.

Zoe said: “Conor has been doing exceptionally well – and conquering The Wrekin is no mean feat!

“He loves to do activities like walking, swimming and having meals out, but he’s had to rebuild his confidence after living through the COVID pandemic.

“Kam has been a huge source of encouragement for Conor, and he’s been right beside him during this important time.

“Now Connor is enjoying all his current activities and loves having a meal out after doing some physical exercise.”

Kam, who joined Swanton just a few months ago, has already been nominated for an ‘Over and Above’ Award for his work with Conor.

Zoe said: “Kam is always ready to help Conor and shows him great empathy and support.

“The connection they’ve built is really special, and having that trust helps Kam facilitate more opportunities for Conor.

“It’s great to see them doing something as impressive as scaling The Wrekin together.”
