A grateful mum has lauded The Grove Support Workers Mark and Stephen, who agreed to accompany her and son James on a holiday with just four days’ notice.
Mum Sharon was delighted when Mark and Stephen dropped everything to accompany her and James on a trip to Drayton Manor theme park.
She credits the duo for giving her the confidence and support to make incredible memories with her son and ensuring James had a wonderful trip.
Sharon said: “I want to express my gratitude and delight to both Mark and Stephen for supporting James and myself at very short notice and enabling this trip to go ahead.
“They gave up their own time overnight to enable James to have the maximum opportunity to enjoy the theme park – his wellbeing and enjoyment were at the forefront of all decisions made.
“They sensitively shadowed and supported James, allowing me to have time with him, but being alert and diligent at any sign of anxiety or behaviour, stepping up with gentle reassurance and calming techniques.
“It was really touching for me as a parent to see what delight the boys got from James’ laughter and enjoyment throughout.
“It showed this is more than just work for them.”
During four happy days at Drayton Manor, James and Sharon enjoyed all that Drayton Manor had to offer.
The Grove Manager, Anthony Risker, said Mark and Stephen were a credit to Swanton.
Anthony said: “It is terrific to see staff willing to go over and above to help the people we support to live happy, meaningful lives.
“For Mark and Stephen to agree to go away for this holiday on such little notice so that James and Sharon could have this experience is incredibly kind and thoughtful.
“We are very proud of them both and thrilled that James and Sharon were able to have such a special time together, knowing they were supported by people who care deeply for their wellbeing.”
