A very special lady marked a milestone birthday this spring as Team Nathan Street helped Janet celebrate turning 70.
The dedicated team led by Alanna Keys wanted to make sure that Janet had the most amazing celebrations to mark her big birthday.
It all began by finding the perfect venue to host Janet’s party and The White Hart in Llandilo got the gig.
From there, it was all about cake as Alanna helped Janet get in touch with Tania – a support worker at Cartref Croeso – to discuss the design of her dream birthday cake.
Once the cake was sorted, it was time to arrange the tunes and who better than the DJ who regularly spins records at Janet’s favourite event ‘The Mix’, a disco for people living with learning disabilities.
With all the party planning done, the only thing left was to get Janet a show-stealing dress.
Alanna said: “It’s not every day that we get to support somebody to celebrate their 70th birthday, and Janet is incredibly precious to us all.
“It was a privilege to work with her to put the perfect party together so everyone who loves her could get together to mark the occasion.
“I was so impressed by our cakemaker, Tania who sat with Janet to discuss exactly how she wanted her cake to look and taste, especially with the Costa Coffee mug flourish!”
Support Worker Claire, who works at Nathan Street, was in charge of fashion as she helped Janet hit the shops.
Claire said: “It was wonderful to take Janet shopping for the perfect dress – she looked amazing at her party!”
The happy event was everything Janet had hoped for, and she was the belle of the ball.
Swanton’s Regional Director, Kuba Nowak, said it was a lovely night.
Kuba said: “It was a fabulous evening with a big turnout – it was so nice to see everybody enjoying themselves.
“Congratulations to Alanna and the team at Nathan Street for doing such an awesome job in supporting Janet to make this 70th event extra special.”
