A devoted family have thanked the dedicated staff at Swn Y Nant for making an emotional time a ‘happy experience’ thanks to their unwavering support.
Jarryd and his parents were understandably nervous as he prepared to move into Swn Y Nant, having never spent more than one night away from them.
However, Manager Jennifer Jenkins and her team were determined to make sure the entire family were looked after as Jarryd settled into his new home.
Jarryd’s mum, Kath, took the opportunity to let everyone know how much their efforts meant to her by writing a heartfelt message.
Kath wrote: “Jarryd moved in just before his 30th birthday, and we were anxious and emotional about how our son (and us as his parents) would cope with the move.
“However, from the moment we met Jen to view Swn Y Nant, we couldn’t have felt more supported. Jen, her deputy Emily and the whole team have gone above and beyond to ensure our son’s transition has been a happy experience for him and, consequently, for us too. The move to Swn Y Nant has exceeded our expectations.”
Writing in the 2024 Family and Friends Survey, which Swanton circulates every year, Kath shared her happiness at seeing the new life Jarryd is enjoying.
She added: “Communication is excellent, and we are provided with regular updates and pictures of Jarryd engaging in activities.
“Jen has created a real home-from-home – it feels like a happy family house.
“Our son is thriving at Swn Y Nant, and we feel content knowing that we have secured him a future and a family for when we are no longer able to look after him.”
The Family and Friends Survey helps Swanton to understand the experience of the people we support’s loved ones, get feedback and shape the future.
