A trip to the theatre was everything Julie could hope for as kind staff helped support her to have the best experience watching ‘Annie’.
Julie, who is supported at Dan Y Graig, really wanted to attend the musical performance at Furnes Theatre, Llanelli but struggled with her anxiety.
Support Worker Suzy Erskine had been working with Julie for a few weeks to build her confidence and plan the trip to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
However, when Julie arrived for the show, she got anxious because she was unhappy with the seats she was given.
That’s when the theatre staff stepped in to help.
Service Manager Vince Barton said: “We cannot thank Furnes Theatre enough for how they helped us support Julie that night.
“They quickly seated Julie and Suzy on the front row, even though it was more expensive, and waved the fee so she could enjoy the show.
“Instead of leaving due to anxiety, Julie was able to stay and enjoy ‘Annie’ in the most amazing seats.
“Both she and Suzy said it was a stunning performance, and they had the best time.”
For Julie, leaving home to go out is a very challenging notion and it takes weeks of planning with staff for her to be ready to do so.
So, experiences like this one go a very long way in helping her to build confidence.
Vince added: “The kindness and consideration shown by Furnes Theatre will have a profound impact on Julie’s life.
“Every experience like this helps her to find the confidence to go out and enjoy the local community.
“We are hopeful that Julie will build on this experience and enjoy more trips to do the things she loves.”
