A lifelong dream came true for Leigh this spring when he was given the unofficial honour of becoming a Red Coat at Minehead Butlins.
During an amazing holiday at the resort, Leigh – who is supported at Pen Y Coed - made such a big impression on the pro entertainers that they welcomed him into their fold.
The heartwarming accolade was the cherry on the cake for Leigh, who was beaming with happiness during his first visit to Butlins in over a decade.
According to Georgia who, alongside colleague Lucy, supported Leigh on the trip, it was an emotional experience.
Georgia said: “Leigh lived his absolute best life at Butlins – it’s hard to explain just how much he loves it there.
“When Leigh moved in with us in 2024, we found out that he used to go to Butlins every year but hadn’t been able to go since 2014.
“His family were thrilled when we told them we could support Leigh to go on holiday and that we’d happily take him to Butlins.
“But nothing could have prepared us for what a magical experience it would be.”
As a huge fan of showbiz sparkles, Leigh made sure he didn’t miss a chance to take in the entertainment.
He watched the Skyline Gang show twice a day every day, as well as going to the official Red Coat show.
Leigh also enjoyed snooker, bowling, hitting the beach, riding the steam train railway and the carousel.
Not a moment was wasted on the trip, which both Georgia and Lucy found incredibly moving.
Georgia added: “It was the loveliest experience, and we kept getting emotional when we saw how much Leigh was in his element.
“The Red Coats loved him because he was singing and dancing with them all the time.
“In fact, they said they were going to recruit him, and the good news is that he already has the uniform!
“It was an incredible week and so heartwarming to see Leigh so happy. We will gladly take him next year and every year!”
