Liayle Credits Colleagues for Apprenticeship success

Apprentice Liayle Morgan has paid tribute to his Swanton Community Care (SCC) Hull colleagues for helping him to achieve life-changing success.

Liayle joined the company as a Support Worker, and his talent was spotted early on, leading to a promotion to Team Leader. He began an apprenticeship in Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker before Service Manager Lisa Goodwin convinced him to go for the Level 5 TQUK Diploma in Leadership and Management. Lisa and Deputy Manager Alison Sutherby knew Liayle had what it takes to progress in a support worker careers at Swanton and wanted to see him fulfil his potential.

Today, having successfully completed his apprenticeship, Liayle is now a Deputy Manager and Administrator for SCC Hull – and the sky is the limit. Liayle said:

“My apprenticeship has given me the confidence to go for promotions and to better myself. Thanks to the support I had from Lisa, Alison and Sally, I’ve been able to build on the knowledge I had from working with the people we support, and I’ve honed my skills. They’ve been amazing, and I’ve learned so much from them, which means I can now produce better outcomes for the people we support. The apprenticeship pathway worked really well for me because it was all coursework based, and I’m no good at exams. The flexibility of having my job at Swanton and being able to work towards a qualification and my support worker career has been terrific – it’s gotten me so far on. When I first started as a Support Worker many moons ago, I could never see myself in this position, but now I’m thriving more and more each day.”

Liayle is excited about the future as he’s recently applied to become a NAPPI trainer as well and his message for people who are considering a career in care and wonder if an apprenticeship is right for them is:

“Just go for it and give it a chance! The skills and confidence that I’ve gained from my apprenticeship have been fantastic. This is such rewarding work, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.”
