Runners from across Values In Care’s management teams are joining forces to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of a cause that’s very personal to one of their colleagues.
Vocational Scheme Manager Lucy Williams is running the race to raise money and awareness for Niemann Picks UK as her niece Indie is living with the rare disease.
Twelve of her colleagues have volunteered to run alongside Lucy and fundraise, too, including Divisional Director Kate Townsley, Regional Director of Operations Zena Winstone, HR Manager Tony Davis and HR Advisor Maria Hyrcia,
Service Managers Jennifer Jenkins, Maria Parker, Kaz Trevelyan Sharpe, Kelly Powell, Naomi Davies, Laura Priest, Rebecca Taylor and Hannah Wilcock have also joined the cause, so nine Values In Care services are represented amongst the runners.
Lucy said: “It means the world to me that this group of amazing colleagues are running the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of little Indie and our family.
“Niemann Picks is a condition we were not aware of until Indie was diagnosed, so we want to raise awareness and funds to help families like ours.
“It is incredibly touching to have this level of support, and Swanton is giving us a £100 donation towards the fundraiser, which is most gratefully received.”
Team VIC aren’t the only Swanton runners in the Cardiff race. Swanton’s Scheme Manager for Wales Joelle Davis and Team Leader Robert Hughes are both running in aid of Llanelli Mind, the mental health charity.
They will also receive £100 donations to their fundraisers and everyone at Swanton is cheering all runners on as they push themselves in aid of such worthy causes.
