The service was transformed into a prom venue with a red carpet, balloons, decorations and a big bouncy castle. There was even a visit from some adorable sensory ponies who were a hit with everyone who interacted with them. Briley was joined by the children supported at Courtyard Care, their families and support staff.
Registered House Manager Sarah Lonergan said everyone at Millie's Courtyard, dressed up in their finery to complete the prom experience and said:
“We wanted to give Briley a great prom that he’ll never forget! He’s done incredibly well in the last year to study hard for his GCSEs and prepare for the leap to the sixth form. Change is challenging for Briley, but he’s coped incredibly well, and we are all so proud of him. It was terrific to get the opportunity to throw him a prom to celebrate.”
As the guests gathered wearing tuxedos, suits and prom dresses, the food was laid out for everyone to enjoy. On the menu was Briley’s favourite food, pizza, as well as a selection of hot dogs, veggie sausages, a finger buffet, and salads. There was also plenty of cake to commemorate this fabulous achievement!
“Briley’s mum and grandparents were there, as were the families of all the children we support. He’s done so well in his exams, and the whole experience has been very positive for Briley. It was so lovely to be able to share this celebration together and to have our very own prom right here at Millie’s Courtyard.”
