It’s a proud moment for the team at Millie’s House in Liverpool, who are celebrating receiving an Outstanding rating in their latest Ofsted inspection — highlighting the positive, child-focused environment they’ve created.
Registered Manager Sarah said the team was delighted with the result. “The team couldn’t have been happier,” she said. “We’re really proud of what the team does every day, and it’s lovely to see that recognised by Ofsted.”
At the heart of Millie’s House is a shared focus. “We all have one main goal — making the children’s lives as amazing as they can be,” Sarah explained. “The team communicates really well and works together as one strong unit.” That sense of teamwork runs through everyday life in the home, helping to create opportunities and experiences that really make a difference.
“We all have one main goal — making the children’s lives as amazing as they can be.”
When the inspection took place, the team welcomed Ofsted with confidence and pride. “The team were more than happy to welcome Ofsted and couldn’t wait to show the hard work they’ve put in,” Sarah said. “At Millies, our culture is simply: come in and see what we do.”
The feedback reflected this approach. Sarah said she particularly valued how the inspector recognised the team’s determination and belief in what can be achieved. “It was the way she spoke about the team’s commitment and our determination to achieve what others might see as unachievable that really meant a lot,” she said. She also welcomed recognition of the leadership within the home. “I especially appreciated how she recognised the way Christine, our Deputy Manager, and I work together and the respect we’ve built with the team — supporting them while remaining part of it.”
Over the past year, the focus has stayed consistent. “It’s always the same goal: to deliver care that goes beyond medical expectations and opens up opportunities and experiences doctors never thought possible,” Sarah said.
This is supported by a hands-on leadership approach. “Leading by example is really important to us,” she added. “We work alongside the team so everyone feels supported.” It’s an approach that helps maintain high standards across the home.
“Everything we do is centred around the children we support.”
Regional Director Sam also praised the team’s achievement, recognising the consistency behind the result. “This reflects the hard work, care and teamwork that goes into Millie’s House every day,” he said. “It’s great to see the team recognised in this way- they deserve it!”
The Outstanding rating also reflects strong relationships with families and professionals. “The professionals were incredibly complimentary, openly praising the team and our achievements. It was truly flattering to hear,” Sarah said.
Like any service, there have been challenges along the way, but the focus has remained clear. “Everything we do is centred around the children we support,” Sarah said. “At the same time, it’s important that the team feel supported too — that’s what helps you build a strong, consistent team.” This has helped create a stable team, dedicated to delivering the best possible care.
Looking ahead, there’s no change in direction. “Millies will continue to do the same as always — plan, play and repeat,” Sarah said.
Above all, this achievement is about the children and their families. “At Millies, every child has a wonderful life full of amazing experiences,” Sarah said. “Health challenges don’t limit us — they drive us to show what we can and will achieve.”
This Outstanding result reflects a team that works closely together, with a clear focus on giving children the best possible life.
Well done Team Millie’s!
