Samantha Sets Triathlon Challenge for Stroke Association Fundraiser

Swanton Manager Samantha Lloyd is facing the ultimate physical challenge to raise money for charity in memory of her beloved granddad.

Samantha will compete in the Worcester Sprint Triathlon event on 21st May in aid of the Stroke Association.

The charity is very close to Samantha’s heart as her grandfather Reg died following a stroke in January.

She’s determined to honour his memory and fundraise on behalf of the people supported at Swanton services who’ve also had strokes.

Samantha said: “It was Grandad who taught me how to cycle and swim when I was growing up, so a triathlon is a perfect way to raise money in his memory.

“He used to be there for all my athletics events, and it was so lovely to have him cheering me on.

“Part of my training involves cycling 15 miles to my Nan Dorothy’s house, so she’s trying to keep me motivated and always telling me to train harder.

“I know I can do each event – the swimming, cycling and running – individually, but the day itself will be the first time I’ve done them all consecutively.

“I’m really nervous but excited to get out there and do it.”
