It was a weekend to remember for the children supported at The Courtyard, as they headed off for an unforgettable seaside holiday to Blackpool. Staying at The Bond Hotel, the trip was filled with laughter, new experiences, and special moments shared with family and staff.
Registered Manager Gemma explained that the team chose Blackpool for its accessibility and fantastic facilities: “The Bond Hotel is just an hour’s drive from Manchester and is fully adapted for people with complex health needs. It gave us the perfect base for a fun and comfortable holiday.”
From the moment they arrived, the excitement was clear to see.
“The smiles on their faces said it all,” said Gemma. “You could just see how happy they were.”
Over the weekend, the children enjoyed a variety of activities — from rides on the Pleasure Beach train, which is wheelchair accessible, to visiting the circus, seeing Peter Rabbit, and even hopping on the Blackpool tram for scenic rides along the seafront.
“There were so many lovely moments,” Gemma shared. “The fireworks, the illuminations, and the shows — the children were absolutely mesmerised.”
A key highlight of the trip was the chance for families to join and share these special experiences together.
“Family time is something we really value at The Courtyard,” Gemma said. “We know that staying connected with family improves mental health and emotional well-being, helping create a real sense of security and belonging. Watching those moments unfold was truly amazing.”
At Courtyard Care, outings like this are carefully planned to ensure that every child — regardless of their health or mobility needs — can enjoy safe, meaningful experiences that build confidence and joy. The team works closely with families, healthcare professionals, and activity providers to make sure every detail is considered, from accessible transport to sensory-friendly spaces. It’s all part of Courtyard Care’s commitment to making sure every child has the chance to explore the world around them and create lasting memories.
For the staff team, seeing the children’s joy made every moment worthwhile. One team member reflected:
“The children had an amazing time — I’m in the right job, making a difference where it’s needed. At one point, I cried. The staff are incredible, and the team effort and unity humble me so much.”
Gemma added that experiences like this are about more than just a holiday — they make a lasting difference: “Holidays promote happiness by providing a break from daily routines and challenges. For our children, who have complex health needs and attend many appointments, these moments of fun and relaxation are so important. Every new sight, sound, and smell contributes to their emotional and sensory development — and helps build confidence and connection.”
It was a truly magical weekend — one filled with seaside air, shared laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.
