Shannon, who is supported by Swanton Community Services in Telford, has been embracing an active and social lifestyle — and having a lot of fun along the way!
She’s known for her outgoing nature and love of being out and about in the community. Whether it’s heading to the gym, enjoying a swim, or exploring beautiful historic sites, she’s always on the go.
“Shannon is a big social butterfly and loves being out and about in the community,” said Scheme Manager Belle. “She’s currently working towards a healthier lifestyle, so she’s been going to the gym, swimming, and walking at National Trust sites.”
One recent highlight was a bowling trip in Telford, where Shannon met up with her boyfriend James. The pair get together every three weeks, and their bowling days are always full of laughter, friendly competition, and lunch outings.

“She absolutely loved it,” Belle shared. “She came home and told everyone about her day — how she’d seen James and had lunch — and said she couldn’t wait for the next one.”
Shannon also recently joined the National Trust, which has been a great way to combine her growing interest in history with gentle exercise.
“After visiting a local museum, we realised Shannon really enjoys learning about the past,” Belle explained. “So we signed her up for National Trust membership — it gives her a chance to explore new places and keep active at the same time.”
One of Shannon’s favourite parts of these visits? Teapots! She now enjoys spotting how many teapots are on display in each house she visits. So far, she’s been to Attingham Park and Dudmaston, with another trip planned for next week.

What’s next for Shannon? She’s set herself a personal step-count target and even bought a Fitbit to help her keep track — which has quickly become a fun challenge for the whole team.
“Shannon asks everyone how many steps they’ve done,” Belle laughed. “It’s been brilliant for her motivation, and it’s really encouraged the team to join in too.”
She’s focused on increasing her steps each month, keeping up her regular gym visits every Thursday, and is already excited about her upcoming holiday to Wales in September — not to mention her next outing with James.
“It’s been lovely to see Shannon so engaged and excited about her goals,” Belle said. “She’s gaining confidence, enjoying the community, and most importantly — having fun.”
