Poem Tribute Warms Alison’s heart at Holderness Road

A glowing tribute in poetic verse written by a departing team member has thrilled Deputy Manager Alison Sutherby.

Support Worker Ibitayo Olaleye wrote a special poem for Alison as he prepared to leave Swanton’s Holderness Road service for pastures new.

After spending almost a year working alongside Alison, helping people supported at the service, Ibitayo wanted to express his admiration for her leadership style.

So, Ibitayo got creative and composed a terrific tribute that melted Alison’s heart.

He wrote:

“Thank you for being a leader one could count on.

Thank you for always being there, even in scary situations.

Thanks for the listening ears.

Thanks for the trust and for allowing me [to] thrive under your guidance and leadership.

Thanks for your selflessness and respect.”

In his note sent with the poem, Ibitayo commended Alison for treating everyone at Holderness Road as equals and for her positive attitude that ‘never ceased to amaze me.”

Ibitayo also wrote, “I’ll be forever proud [to have worked] with you.

The Swanton and Holderness family have been fantastic to me and forever remain part of me.”

After receiving Ibitayo’s incredible feedback and generous words, Alison said she was overwhelmed.

Alison said: “It means the world to me that Ibitayo had such a great experience with us at Holderness Road.

“I was over the moon to receive his praise and to know that the work I’m doing is creating a positive atmosphere for the team.

“I’d like to thank Ibitayo for his kindness and hard work throughout his time with us.”
