Swanton Telford Adds Six Mental Health First Aiders To Regional Team

Proactive Team Telford has ensured a strong mental health provision for colleagues in the region by sourcing first-aider training.

There are now six trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) in the team after Peripatetic Care Manager Zoe Carter and colleagues sourced training from Telford College.

MHFA work to support colleagues experiencing mental health issues by providing support and encouragement in the moment and helping the person identify and access professional help and support.

Telford’s MHFA team includes Stephanie East, Rebecca Collier, Annabelle Turner, Opinder Hira. Lisa Goldsmith and Zoe Carter.

Zoe said: “It’s great to have five trained MHFAs in Telford – we know how impactful and important this support can be for colleagues.

“The course has taught us so much, and we’re also looking for proactive approaches to mental health, as well as supporting colleagues when they are experiencing issues.

“We intend to develop wellness activities to run in our services, which will include the people we support, as well as team members.

“It’s been great to have the training from Telford College and take what we’ve learned forward to have a positive impact in our workplace.”
