An amazing Easter event held to raise vital funds for Pendleside Hospice in Burnley has seen the total raised almost double.
Donna Mawson, Team Leader at Swanton Care & Community Burnley, got help from two of the ladies supported as she and her family hosted their annual event.
They helped to operate the tombola stall, sell raffle tickets and chat with visitors as the crowds gathered at Green Lane Bowling Club over the Easter Weekend.
Amazingly, the total raised hit £2800 this year, an increase of £1300 from last year’s event.
Donna said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised so much money for Pendleside Hospice, who do incredible work.
“The girls love to come along and help out, which really does mean the world to me and my family.
“We put on the event every year in memory of my husband, who died on Easter Sunday at Pendleside five years ago.
“This event is in honour of his memories and to do something positive to help the vital work when Pendleside Hospice does.”
The hospice sent along their mascot, who happily posed for pics with the SCC Burnley ladies.
The day was full of joy as 150 people turned up to support the event.
Donna said: “We could have many more people attending, but the bowling club's capacity is 150 people.
“Nevertheless, we are so happy with how well this year’s event went.
“Thanks so much to the girls for supporting us and doing such an amazing job this year!”
