The Grove Inclusive Bathroom Upgrade Proves Popular

A bathroom upgrade made to provide inclusive facilities for staff at The Grove has become popular with everyone at the home.

Service Manager Anthony Risker added a bidet shower facility so that members of staff who practice Islam could maintain their toilet etiquette.

The move was much appreciated by Muslim team members, but once colleagues started using the bidet, they were impressed with the new facility, too.

In fact, the bidet proved so popular that Anthony installed a second one in the other communal toilet. Now, people supported at The Grove have started using bidets as well.

Anthony said: “The decision to install the first bidet was made because I want everybody in our service to have the facilities they need to be comfortable.

“Bidets are an essential part of hygiene for Muslim people, and so we wanted to offer that facility to staff who practice Islam.

“Now, not only do many other colleagues use the bidet, but one of the people we support does too.

“He asked to have one installed in his room, and the result was that his hygiene habits improved exponentially.

“It’s fantastic to see that by being inclusive for other people’s cultures into our service, we’ve made an improvement that benefits everybody.”
