A delightful irony occurred during a recent crafting session at the Maesteilo Hub when the kilns were fired up to create snow people.
A group of clever crafters got together to make wintery figurines using clay before their work was popped into the kiln to be finished.
It wasn’t until they emerged from the supervised inferno that the snow people began taking their true, winter-tastic form.
That’s when the glaze was applied before a final firing, after which the people supported at the hub began decorating their figurines.
Activity Hub Manager Karen Jeffreys said that the results were terrific.
Karen said: “We had such a lot of fun making our snow people.
“There were some fantastic designs that looked absolutely brilliant once they were painted and displayed.
“The snow people are synonymous with the season but not necessarily tied to Christmas itself.
“Now, with much of the UK experiencing snow, it’s the perfect time to have these homemade creations on display.”
At the Maesteilo Hub, the people supported get the opportunity to try lots of different types of activities.
Learning new things in a safe and supportive environment helps to promote well-being and inspire newfound confidence.
Karen said: “It’s so gratifying to see the people we support mastering new things.
“I love it when their creations are completed, and they get to enjoy them, knowing this is something they’ve made themselves.
“We’re always looking for ways to introduce new arts and crafts, and the snow people were a lovely project for the winter season.”
