Woodwork Wonders Create Christmas Candles At The Hub

Christmas magic is being made at The Hub as people have been making festive candle holders during woodwork sessions.

Andrew, Joe and Ben, who are all supported at local Values In Care services, have been making their very own candle creations from scratch.

Projects that began as a lump of wood have been transformed into stylish candle holders with bespoke designs.

According to Kaz Trevelyan-Sharpe, who runs the sessions, the results have made the woodworkers very happy.

Kaz said, “At the start of the project, we gave the people we support a choice of what they wanted to make, and Andrew, Joe and Ben chose the candle holders.

“We have a brand new Cricut machine at The Hub which does vinyl printing, so they were able to create designs to go onto the holders.

“It’s quite challenging for the people we support to visualise the finished project when they are doing it, but they’ve been so proud of the results.”

The candle holders will be used with LED candles, providing a lovely lighting solution to create a Christmassy atmosphere.

For one family, they will be extra special.

Kaz revealed: “Andrew is giving his candle holder to his mum as a Christmas present, and he was so excited to wrap it for her.

“It’s incredibly gratifying for us to see them admiring the finished results of their hard work and the big smiles on their faces.

“We are very proud of them and how brilliantly they’ve done with this project.”
