Ross from Fairview House had an awesome experience this winter when he rode the fastest seated zipline in the world in the Rhigos mountains.
Support Worker Phil James accompanied Ross on the epic adventure as they drove to nearby Aberdare, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons.
Ross had been shown a video of people riding the high-octane zipline and expressed that he would like to try it too.
When he and Phil arrived, the fun began as they got ready to speed through the air.
Phil said: “When Ross was asked if he wanted to do the zipline, his face lit up, and he said ‘yes!’
“We had to get kitted out when we arrived, and then the zipline was split up into two parts. For the first part, we went down the Rhigos mountain and across the Llyn Fawr reservoir!
“You are supposed to go at the same time, but I wanted to make sure Ross went first in case he had any last-minute nerves. I needn’t have worried because he showed no fear at all – he loved it.”
As they embarked on section two of the zipline, Ross and Phil sped through the air back to the Tower Colliery.
Phil added: “The excitement and joy on Ross’ face were incredible – he was laughing the whole time.
“This is the second time I’ve done a zipline, as I’d taken my family to the one in Snowdonia, and it was a thrill.
“It was wonderful to see Ross embrace this challenge without any nerves, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be keen to go back again.
“It was a terrific experience for us to share, and I’m so happy I was able to support Ross to take on the challenge and smash it.”
